Three Ingredient Honey Cake
Updated: Jun 5, 2020
Want to make the imploding honey cake from tiktok? There's only three ingredients and it all takes around 15 minutes
Honey cake
2 egg yolks
1 whole egg
2 tablespoons of honey
2 tablespoons of flour
Preheat the oven to 355 degrees
Beat the eggs until just mixed
Heat the honey for two minutes until super liquidy but don’t overcook
Add slowly to the egg mixture, you don’t want cooked egg bits
Beat at medium-high until pale and thick, it should almost double in size. Depending on the humidity in your kitchen this could take up to ten minutes don't give up on it!
Go for the texture of whipped cream
Add two tablespoons of flour and mix until just combined
Not too long you don’t want to build gluten
Bake for 12-14 minutes it should be deep golden brown, any lighter and the center will be liquid.
This recipe was created for a 4x4 pyrex container if you double it for a 9x4 cake pan consider dropping an egg yolk to ensure that you get the proper texture.
Whatever pan you use make sure it's not more than 3/4 full to ensure it cooks all the way.
Thanks, @lambbinkie on Instagram for the help with improving the recipe
The outside should be very light and the center should fall and have a thick custard texture

See AllI've never seen a recipe for a single serving of cake so I workshopped one. Ingredients 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened 1/4 cup...
I have made this dish soooo many times! It's soooo good! When I make it I add vanilla extract, cinnamom/sugar mixture and a tiny bit of lemon juice and it is so good. Especially with powdered sugar and drizzled honey. And if you're allergic to honey you can use maple syrup instead!
Made it today, added some strawberry syrup to the batter. Let it cook longer in the oven which made it really spongy and delicious! Definitely a hit with the family.
It was a bit dry and sunk a little when I took it out of the oven, but once I added cream/ice cream it was delicious. Definitely would make again though as it was quite quick and easy to make. Thanks :)
I made a larger version with a detachable cake pan. I’m not exactly sure what size it is but I doubled in the ingredients and left out one yolk. It is very tasty and seems like the perfect compliment for tea or coffee ;)
i made this and it was really yummy, so light and not too sweet :) i put the honey in the microwave for ~30 sec. i did have to whip the egg-honey mixture a lot before adding flour, and i added vanilla extract. i put it in a loaf pan and i think i had to bake for a little more time than the recipe stated. it's really good with nutella and oranges! thank u for this recipe :)
